It’s compact, durable, and floats across even the softest of powder. But unfortunately, not everyone has had a good experience with the Warpig.

Some users have noted that the board is only great at fast speeds, that it’s not as damp as they’d like, and it’s really not a great board for jumps.

Features

Construction

The Warpig features what Ride calls “Thin Construction.”

It means that the board has a tapered tip and tail, a reduced weight from what you might expect, flex at the tip, and a sidewall that runs past the edge of the board.

Edge

The Warpig also includes Ride’s trademark edge, the Cleave Edge Steel.

It boasts almost 50% more steel and guarantees that the edge of your board is more resistant to cracking.

Therefore, no matter how hard you run into a pile of snow or hit a block of ice, the Warpig will hold up.

Core

The core of this board is a mix of Aspen combined with bamboo and Paulownia wood.

It ensures the board is balanced, strong, and also lightweight.

Slimewalls

Ride’s patented Slimewalls ensure your board absorbs any impact instead of trying to fend it off. These sidewalls guarantee your ride is as smooth as possible with the addition of urethane.

The Slimewalls are meant to strengthen the board, preventing chips to the top sheet and reducing the weight.

Plus, you don’t have to worry about damaging them, as according to Ride, “they are virtually indestructible.”

Laminates

There are a couple laminate components that make up the Warpig:

Double Impact Plates: These plates are located under the binding area to increase the strength of the board, and help prevent it from breaking in the place where it matters most (under your feet).

Carbon Array™ Laminate: This helps you keep control of the board no matter where you stand on it.

There are carbon stringers placed at the binding zone, and they use your movement to make the board adjust to your desires.

Hybrid Glass: There is triaxial glass on top of the board, and biaxial on the base. This glass helps keep the board balanced while also providing a stiffness that boosts responsiveness at high speeds.

Warranty

Ride also gives you a three-year warranty. You must have a copy of the receipt or another proof of purchase form to get the benefits of this warranty.

You also must return the board to the place you purchased it, and they will process your warranty on behalf of Ride. If you bought yours online, you may have to send it back and pay for shipping.

The main things that are covered by the warranty are structural cracks on the top sheet, base, core, edge, and/or sidewall due to a manufacturer’s defect.

The Positives

Flexible

Ride’s Warpig has just enough flex that you’ll be able to move freely, never feeling as if your board is working against you.This isn’t something often found in boards of its size.

There is plenty of pop and snap to this board. Many users agree that it’s not too stiff and truly responds to your movements.

Stable

Just because the board is flexible doesn’t mean it’s unstable. The Warpig has a medium amount of flex, so you don’t have to worry about it feeling loose or insecure.

You can cut through the snow easily, without worry of too much chatter. The solid construction also ensures you can make it through the heaviest of snow with no problems.

The Negatives

Iffy on Turns

However, the Warpig is not great on turns. It’s not as responsive as some riders would have liked, despite its famed abilities, so a test trial may be needed.

Some reported difficulties transitioning in and out of some turns, and the board can be slow depending on how wide your turn is.

If you’re trying to avoid a tree or another person, you want the board to be quick about it, making this a deal breaker for some.

Must Go Fast

While most users love that the Warpig is great at high speeds, it is really only at its best when going fast.

If you like to go slow, or just want to take a break and glide down the slopes, it does not ride as well.

If you love the fast speeds, however, this is for you.

Not Great on Jumps

The Warpig is not the best on jumps but also suffers on uneven terrain.

There is not a lot of pop in the board for jumps, and the shorter tail means the board is less stable on jumps too.

On uneven terrain, the Warpig is just not damp enough and is a bit too short to be fun.

Edge Hold

While there is some edge hold on this board, there was not enough for many users. There is the possibility of the board sliding, and when you’re not expecting it, that doesn’t always turn out well.

Based on our testers, some desired more grip to avoid wiping out in a turn. Especially when riding on snow that is a mix of powder, slush, and ice, riders needed more control.

Overall Verdict

After looking at the pros and the cons, we are cautiously recommending the Ride Warpig Snowboard. If you love to go fast and tend to avoid jumps, this might be the board for you.

But if you like to jump (who doesn’t?!) or you like to take it easy on the slopes, it’s wise to look elsewhere.

The Warpig boasts of great features, and while it’s a perfect fit for some may not the board for everyone.
