Consider the pros and cons below, then you can decide if these are the right pair for you.

Features

Materials

Poplar/Beech Core: The mix of woods at the core of each allows them to be lightweight, easy to turn, and able to grip even on the hardest-packed snow.

The poplar wood ensures you aren’t feeling too much vibration coming through the skis, while the beech wood makes the skis sturdy even when you are landing after doing tricks.

Die-Cut PTEX 3000 Base: This base material is used on most of Faction’s skis. It is used to make the skis porous and allows the ski to hold wax well.

This base also allows you to go super fast while still being stable. You can’t ask for much more than that!

Design

Microcap construction: The different materials that make up the Prodigy are sandwiched together, allowing for ultimate edge hold.

The topsheet on each ski also wraps all the way to the sidewalls, making these skis incredibly durable.

You won’t have to worry about them chipping when you are going through the roughest snow. This also helps reduce the overall weight of the skis.

Rocker/Camber/Rocker: The Prodigy skis are rockered at the tips and tails. This makes sure that you will be able to go through the cruddiest of snow as well as hard-packed groomers.

With a 350 mm of rocker in the tip, 2 mm of camber underfoot, and 330 mm of rocker in the tail, you are guaranteed a great ride on whatever terrain is in front of you.

Sidewalls: The sidewalls on the Prodigy, along with the wood core, allow you to have the maximum edge grip. This means you will feel completely stable on these skis.

You’ll never be uncomfortable or wobbly. It will help you remain confident even in rough conditions.

Transition Zones: There are transition zones between the camber and the rockered tips and tails.

These make sure you have the smoothest ride possible no matter how big the bumps are that you’re going over, which could be a lot in all-mountain settings.

Dual Radius Sidecut: There is a smaller radius in the tip and a larger radius in the tail. This makes sure the skis are very responsive and that you have the control, but without losing the stability of the skis.

You will be able to charge through the snow and still feel comfortable.

The Faction Prodigy 2.0 skis also come with a two-year warranty

They will effortlessly turn, and hold stable throughout your ride whether you are going fast or slow. They’ll remain responsive when pushing them hard but can cruise with you when you’re taking it easy.

They can really do it all! Whatever you want to put these skis through, they are willing to take it.

Stable

Due to the wood core and the base on these skis, you are not going to have to worry about feeling wobbly or unstable.

The sidewall on each ski also makes sure you can easily turn without feeling like you’re going to wipe out.

The edge grip will make sure you stay upright and that you have a fun day out on the slopes – not a frustrating one.

Easy to Control

You also won’t have to worry about losing control on these skis.

With some skis, you really have to be on them all the time to get them to do what you want. This isn’t the case with the Faction Prodigy Skis.

They will work with you to make sure you have the easiest time on the slopes! They will quickly and effortlessly follow your lead.

This is great for practicing new maneuvers and techniques, you can expect these skis to be responsive, helping you along instead of holding you back.

Lightweight

One of the many reasons these skis respond so well is thanks to their lightweight build. Those looking for a lighter ski to take on the slopes with them will luck out with the Prodigy Skis.

Lighter skis make it easier to maneuver techniques and won’t weigh you down resulting in tired legs on the trails later.

An extra bonus with lighter skis is that they’re a lot easier on your arms and feet when carrying them around with you during your day.

Know that these skis will assist you when gaining power and speed without losing your traction.

Customer Service

Anyone who has had a rough time with returns or questions knows how important great customer service can be.

Faction is always open to chat and answer any questions you have. They have a form on their website where you can ask questions and they will get back to you as soon as possible.

They are available from 9am-5pm GST for questions that need immediate responses, but you can ask a question at any time.

This is also great if you end up using the included two-year warranty. This warranty covers any errors or defects in manufacturing, and the company will repair or replace your skis should there be an issue.

Damp

Because these skis include the poplar wood in their construction, they are guaranteed to give you a smooth ride.

You won’t be feeling every lump and bump you hit as you fly down the mountain. And the addition of the beech wood makes sure that you won’t even feel any kick-back when you are landing after doing a trick.

Handles High Speeds

There’s plenty of room for advanced skiers and speed demons to have fun on the Prodigy 2.0 Skis.

Many users have reported just how delightful these skis perform on the slopes no matter how they’re pushed – especially when it comes to speed.

These skis have this ‘zest’ that really come in handy for tearing it up on the trails.

You can expect these skis to keep up with you when you feel like harnessing your inner Flash, promising that you’ll be able to beat almost anyone down the trails.

Harder skiers don’t have to be afraid to push these either. They’re made to not back down from a challenge.

The Negatives

Powder Only

While these skis work on all kinds of terrain, there are some users that felt they worked their best on powder.

They thought the ride was a bit rough when it came to groomers and the hardest-packed snow.

So, if you are using these in a mostly powder terrain, you should be fine, but if the ski parks are your main destination, you may want to think twice about the Prodigies.

Not for Beginners

While this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, you should know these skis are not for beginners. They are going to work best for an intermediate or more advanced skier.

While they may give you an easy ride, they do need the expertise of an intermediate or expert skier to really get them to work their best on the slopes.

Won’t Suit All Advanced Skiers

While it’s not for beginner skiers, some advanced skiers may find that it doesn’t fit their expectations either.

These skis are all about having fun, and they’re perfect for those who want to enjoy a day out on the slopes without being held back by their skis.

That being said, skiers who really want to push their boundaries or who are more keen on perfecting their techniques, might benefit from a stiffer ski.

Some skiers found that they preferred a ski that likes to push them, instead of a ski that likes to be pushed.

While still suitable for expert skiers, you might find yourself using these skis more on occasion than often.

Overall Verdict

After going through all the positives and negatives, we would recommend the Faction Prodigy 2.0 Skis.

They’ll provide you with a smooth ride due to how damp they are, they are easy to maneuver, turning on a dime if you need them to, and they work in most conditions.

While some users found that they skied best in powder, this is not enough of a drawback to make us turn away.

As long as you are an intermediate or more advanced skier, and primarily ski in the conditions they’re suited for, these should work out great for you!

As a more experienced skier, you could also take them into other conditions, so long as you’re prepared for a rockier ride. The good customer service doesn’t hurt either.
