This board is damp, has a serrated edge so you’ll be able to cut through even the roughest of terrain, and is stable in all kinds of conditions – even at different speeds.

But not everyone has fallen in love with the One LF. Some users have noted that it’s a heavier board and not the most stable.

However, before you make your final decision, let’s take a more in-depth look at the Rossignol One LF Snowboard.

Rossignol One LF Snowboard: The Details

In A Nutshell

  • Profile: Rocker camber.
  • Shape: Directional twin.
  • Flex: Medium.
  • Construction: Serrated Edges, Radcut, fiberglass, TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane), ABS, Kevlar,
  • Core: Wood CBF1 + Lite Frame.
  • Available lengths: 153cm, 156cm, 159cm.
  • Type: All-mountain.

Features

Rocker

The Rossignol One LF has an AmpTek All-Mountain Rocker, which features softer tips, a stiffer waist, and a 40 percent camber underfoot.

This makes for an enhanced edge grip while also improving the board’s stability. There is also a 60 percent rocker at the tip and tail.

This profile and shape mean a stiffness from the rear foot to the waist, and a softer flex under the front foot to help with initiating turns.

Sidecut

Rossignol is calling this board’s sidecut the Radcut. What is the resulting appearance of this?

There is a traditional sidecut as well as multiple reverse sidecuts near the tip and the tail, which ultimately means you can adjust the sidecut as you ride (pretty cool!).

There is also the option of choosing a desired version of the Radcut based on how you like to ride, as different sidecuts can deliver quicker turns or a more relaxed ride.

Core

The core of the One LF is made up of a single type of wood, which is then laminated with Basalt and Kevlar fibers (yes, that type of Kevlar!) through the center.

The fibers are incorporated for additional comfort, stability, and to make the board completely smooth from edge to edge.

Laminates

There are a few laminates that are included in this snowboard:

Aramid (AKA the Kevlar): This helps with dampening and softens your landing after jumps (very important!).

As you can probably guess based on what Kevlar is normally used for, it also makes the board durable, strong, and very lightweight.

Basalt: The addition of basalt gives the board more power and enhances its stability.

Basalt is much stronger and lighter-weight than the usual fiberglass, and is much more elastic than carbon, which is sometimes used.

Glass Fiber: The glass fiber comes in many different weights and weaves, so it can be customized to the type of board and the rider.

It also helps stabilize the wood core and ensures it lasts longer over time.

Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU): This is an elastic material that helps dampen any vibrations you might feel going down the slopes, while also increasing the strength of the board.

The TPU also works well in low temperatures, which is always a good thing when you’re dealing with snow sports.

LITE Frame Technology

The L.I.T.E. Frame Technology (LF) means that Rossignol places a urethane strip around the perimeter of the board.

This works as a shock absorber while also helping you maneuver for the smoothest ride possible.

This is an asset which will help make you feel like you’re gliding on a cloud.

ABS Sidewall

The ABS sidewall makes the One LF extra durable and helps keep away moisture from the wooden core.

(Wood + moisture is not a good combo usually).

Edge

This Rossignol board also has what they call 5S Serrated Edge Technology.

This means the edge of the board has five points of contact with the snow, giving it more grip, stability, and providing you with a greater peace of mind.

The Positives

Versatile

In almost every review, the Rossignol One LF is repeatedly stated to be a very versatile snowboard. It’s the choice that will work for riders seeking to snowboard over the entire mountain.

It can be used for freestyle, groomers, as well as in parks. There is not much this board can’t do or a terrain it can’t ride on.

It does a solid job in less than ideal conditions too. This board cuts through ice without losing any of its key qualities like its stability and easy turns (more on these below).

This is great for the versatile rider who likes to experience a variety of trails and conditions. You won’t have to worry about your board backing down.

Damp

The One LF is also really damp. This means that you won’t feel any vibration or bumpiness as you charge through the slopes.

The LITE Frame is what the LF means in the name of this board, and it’s what limits the chatter to provide the smoothest ride possible.

The wood core is laminated with fibers that also help minimize the amount of vibration you’ll feel. One reviewer even noted that, when traveling over hard frozen snow, they felt very little jarring.

Rossignol truly put all they could into this board to ensure you feel like you’re in the equivalent of an expensive car gliding down a smooth road.

Floats

The One LF is also lightweight enough that you can ride on powder or freshly fallen snow without worry of sinking. Multiple users noted how well the board floated.

Stable

Also, because of the LITE Frame technology and the dampness, this board is very stable. You’ll never feel insecure or wobbly when riding or doing tricks. Users have reported that the board is very solid, no matter the conditions.

Additionally, the serrated edge on the One LF ensures the board has multiple points of contact with the snow or ice so that you always feel grounded (when you’re not in the air) and steady.

This board’s stability only results in more confidence from the rider, meaning more possibilities for growth.

Easy Turns

A number of users also noted how easy it is to make turns on this board. It’s very responsive to your input, so you don’t have to do any extra work to control it.

The stiffness placed underfoot also makes initiating turns very simple for both wide and narrow turns.

The fact that this board offers some forgiveness makes it easy for advanced snowboarders to really work on their technique and skills without fear of their board sabotaging them.

Performs at High Speeds

Calling all speed demons and trail racers, this board is one that will definitely keep up. It holds its stability at high speeds, so you can easily race your mates to the finish line without worry of wiping out.

There’s one thing a lot of testers can agree on about this board, it’s fun! It packs a pop and the rockered tips allow this board to be playful.

Who says you can’t have a solid and sturdy board that’s also super fun to ride?

Accessible

While we wouldn’t give this to beginner’s for their first board, it’s a great board for advanced to intermediate riders who want something that doesn’t demand too much power and gives an enjoyable ride.

Those who are beyond the novice level will have a plethora of options at their disposal with this board. You can literally take this anywhere in a park and expect it to provide a great ride.

Whether you’re just looking to cruise with the best of them or show off with some amazing tricks, the Rossignol One LF won’t hesitate.

The overall price of the board is quite reasonable for what Rossignol packs into it, and a one-year warranty is included with your board to protect against any errors in manufacturing.

The Negatives

Heavy

Despite some riders finding this board lightweight, there were others who found it to be very heavy.

While it still floats, it didn’t feel comfortable when they were riding it, and they didn’t like how weighty it felt on their feet.

This was not the view of everyone, but it was definitely common enough to mention here. It may be wise to try this as a rental before buying!

Loose Feeling

Some users felt the board wasn’t tight enough for them. They mentioned it feeling loose, and that is never a great thing.

When you’re charging down a slope, jumping, or doing a trick, you don’t want to feel as if the board is about to come out from under you.

Overall Verdict

After going over all the pros and the cons, we highly recommend the One LF snowboard by Rossignol.

The positives far outweigh the negatives in this case. The stability, dampness, versatility, and the ability to make easy turns ensures that this is an easy recommendation to make.

The downside? It may be too lightweight for you and better off in the hands of advanced to intermediate boarders. Otherwise, this will be right up your alley.

  1. I bought this board 161w 2017/2018 model, I tested this board in indoor snowdome which had firm snow, it certainly exceeded my expectations, its very fast, very stable, you can straight glide flat base down the slope.

With its magnetraction its difficult to catch an edge, which gives you more confidence to push your limits further, its definitely the best board i have ridden so far. Very highly recommend.
